EMBL Grenoble seeks a Scientific Expert for the Eukaryotic Expression Facility to oversee recombinant protein production in insect, mammalian, and protist systems. You will advise on expression choices, develop optimized workflows, train users, and manage daily facility operations to support structural and functional studies.

The role involves collaboration with neighboring EMBL facilities, protocol development, and possible travel to EMBL sites.

Qualifications

• Technical, Master or PhD degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven track record in cell biology, eukaryotic cell culture, recombinant protein or protein‑complex expression strategies.
• Experience in construct design, expression optimisation, and protein‑complex characterisation.

Responsabilités

• Advising users on selection and optimisation of expression systems for recombinant proteins and complexes.
• Developing tailored solutions for production problems, including construct and cell‑line engineering.
• Developing, benchmarking, and adopting new production protocols for protein and complexes.
• Managing daily operation of the facility labs and equipment (cell sorter, light microscopes).
• Ensuring equipment maintenance, servicing and upgrades, and identifying future investments.
• Managing consumables, reagents and facility resources.
• Training users and contributing to courses and educational activities at EMBL and externally.
• Maintaining usage records, performance indicators and facility statistics.
• Representing EMBL at meetings, courses and partnerships.
• Collaborating with Cryo‑EM Facility, Protein Expression and Purification Facility, and Imaging Center at EMBL Heidelberg; occasional travel to sites.
