EMBL Grenoble is seeking a Scientific Expert for the Eukaryotic Expression Facility to lead daily scientific and technical operations, advise on expression systems, and develop innovative protocols for recombinant proteins and complexes. You will manage lab activities, train users, and collaborate across EMBL sites and external partners.

The role involves ensuring equipment readiness, driving improvements, and occasionally travelling to partner facilities.

Qualifications

• Master or PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology or related discipline.

Responsabilités

• Lead the daily scientific and technical operation of the Eukaryotic Expression Facility.
• Advise users on selection and optimisation of expression systems for proteins and complexes.
• Develop tailored production solutions including construct and cell-line engineering.
• Develop, adopt and benchmark new protocols for protein production for structural studies.
• Manage the facility laboratories and equipment, including the cell sorter and microscopes.
• Ensure equipment maintenance, servicing and upgrades, and identify investment needs.
• Train users and contribute to courses and educational activities.
• Maintain accurate usage records and facility statistics.
• Represent EMBL’s expertise at meetings and in partnerships.
• Collaborate with other EMBL facilities across sites; travel may be required.
