Job summary

SMBC Group EMEA in Frankfurt is seeking a Credit Analyst (Vice President) to join the Credit Department. You will independently assess and manage credit risk across a diverse portfolio, support senior credit decisions, and contribute to the bank’s risk framework in a regulated, international environment.

The role involves analysing credit applications across corporate lending, LBOs, project finance, FI and structured finance, preparing clear recommendations, and conducting periodic reviews.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in credit analysis or credit risk management.
• Experience in corporate lending, LBO, Project Finance, Financial Institutions, structured finance or derivatives.
• Knowledge of EBA, ECB, KWG and MaRisk regulations.
• Degree-level education in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting or related discipline.
• Fluency in English; German language skills would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Analyse credit applications across corporate lending, LBO, Project Finance, Financial Institutions, structured finance and derivatives.
• Prepare clear, well-reasoned credit recommendations for presentation to the Executive Board or delegated authority.
• Plan and conduct periodic credit reviews while monitoring portfolio performance and emerging risks.
• Identify and escalate material credit matters to governance forums.
• Support development and maintenance of credit policies, procedures and risk management frameworks.
• Partner with Front Office, Treasury, Finance, Planning and other Credit teams to ensure effective credit risk management.
• Support and deputise for the Head of Credit, including audits and regulatory interactions.
