Job summary

ABB Motion Center Of Expertise -Logistics (CoE-L) in Vaasa, Finland, seeks a Trade and Logistics Specialist to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement across global trade processes. The role is hybrid, reporting to CoE-L Manager, with responsibilities spanning import/export coordination, data accuracy, and freight cost management.

The ideal candidate has a BSc/MSc in a relevant field and extensive SAP, GTS, and TMS experience, along with strong Finnish and English language skills

Qualifications

• Fluency in Finnish and English, both written and spoken.
• Experience with trade and logistics regulations.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate import/export operations with brokers to ensure compliant data exchange.
• Develop and analyze trade and customs reports with KPI visibility.
• Optimize transportation planning to meet cost and service targets.
• Provide expert trade and logistics guidance to ABB businesses for continuous improvement.
• Validate LSP invoices and freight cost in line with contracts and policies.

Your Role and Responsibilities

We are now looking for a new Trade and Logistics Specialist to join our team in ABB Motion Center Of Expertise -Logistics (CoE-L) organization in Vaasa. In this role, you will drive operational excellence, support business stakeholders, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality, performance, and efficiency across our global trade and logistics processes.

The work model for this role is hybrid, #Li-Hybrid

Accountability and Main Responsibilities

• Coordinating and overseeing import and export operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant exchange of trade-related data with customs brokers and other key stakeholders to facilitate seamless cross-border movements
• Developing, maintaining, and analyzing trade and customs-related reports, ensuring data accuracy, regulatory compliance, timely reporting, and visibility of key performance indicators
• Managing transportation planning activities by optimizing the utilization of logistics resources, ensuring cost-efficient and service-driven execution of freight movements in alignment with customer requirements and business objectives
• Providing expert trade and logistics support to ABB businesses, delivering high-quality guidance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across transportation and trade processes
• Taking ownership of LSP invoice validation and freight cost management process, ensuring transportation charges are accurate, contractually compliant, and aligned with purchasing policies and agreed commercial terms
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives across trade and logistics processes, fostering operational excellence through a proactive, solution-oriented, and development-focused mindset

Qualifications for the Role

• BSc. or MSc. level degree from a relevant field, such as industrial management or commercial
• Extensive experience with SAP, GTS, TMS platforms, MS Office
• Extensive knowledge of trade and logistics regulations
• Fluency in Finnish and English, both written and spoken
• A team player attitude with good communication and collaboration skills. Customer-oriented approach
• Experience in transport management or freight forwarding is seen as an advantage
