Job summary

Helsinki Shipyard is seeking a Ship Fuel and Lubrication Oils System Responsible Designer to join the 40-member Machinery Design Department. You will lead the design of fuel and lubrication systems for new ships, with a focus on future and alternative marine fuels.

You will collaborate across disciplines to make technical, regulatory, safety and quality decisions, prepare piping diagrams and documentation, and support procurement and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture or related engineering field.
• Strong problem-solving skills are essential.
• Experience in ship piping systems is highly appreciated but not mandatory.
• Experience in ship structural integration, automation, power electrics, pressurized oil lubrication, and mechatronics is beneficial.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Act as the responsible systems designer for fuel and lubrication oil systems throughout ship projects.
• Make technical, economical, regulatory, safety and quality decisions.
• Develop fuel and lubrication system solutions during the design process.
• Prepare system arrangements, piping diagrams, specifications and documentation in the basic design phase.
• Support procurement of equipment and system components.
• Prepare test and commissioning programs and provide production support.

We are now looking for a Ship Fuel and Lubrication Oils System Responsible Designer for the 40-member Machinery Design Department. The Machinery Design Department is responsible for the system design, equipment procurement, and detailed design of ship propulsion machinery and related systems.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Acting as the responsible systems designer for fuel and lubrication oil systems, including future and alternative marine fuel technologies.
• Making technical, economical, regulatory, safety, and quality-related design decisions throughout ship projects.
• Developing fuel and lubrication system solutions throughout the design process.
• Preparing system arrangements, piping diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation during the basic design phase.
• Supporting the procurement of equipment and system components specified in your designs.
• Preparing test and commissioning programs.
• Providing technical support to the production team and helping resolve design, installation, commissioning, and system-related issues.

To succeed in this role:

• You have a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture or another relevant field of Engineering.
• Strong problem-solving skills are a must.
• Experience in the field of ship piping systems is highly appreciated, though not mandatory.
• Experience in ship structural integration, automation, power electrics, pressurized oil lubrication, and mechatronics is beneficial.
• The ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment is essential.
• A good command of English, both written and spoken, is required.
