Helsinki Shipyard in Helsinki seeks a Ship Piping System Responsible Designer to lead piping discipline within the Machinery Design Department. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture or another relevant field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Experience in ship piping systems is highly appreciated, though not mandatory.
  • Experience in ship structural integration, automation, power electrics, pressurized oil lubrication, and mechatronics is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as the responsible systems designer for ship piping systems, including bilge, ballast, venting, compressed air, helicopter refuelling, and cargo systems.
  • Making technical, economical, regulatory, and quality-related design decisions throughout the project.
  • Developing piping system solutions for ship concepts and throughout the design process.
  • Preparing system arrangements, piping diagrams, and technical documentation during the basic design phase.
  • Developing system components and solutions and providing technical support for equipment procurement.
  • Preparing test and commissioning programs.
  • Supporting the production team as a technical specialist and helping resolve design, installation, and system-related issues.

We are now looking for a Ship Piping System Responsible Designer for the 40-member Machinery Design Department. The Machinery Design Department is responsible for the system design, equipment procurement, and detailed design of ship propulsion machinery and related systems.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Acting as the responsible systems designer for ship piping systems, including bilge, ballast, venting, compressed air, helicopter refueling, and cargo systems.
  • Making technical, economical, regulatory, and quality-related design decisions throughout the project.

To succeed in this role:
  • You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture or another relevant field of Engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Experience in the field of ship piping systems is highly appreciated, though not mandatory.
  • Experience in ship structural integration, automation, power electrics, pressurized oil lubrication, and mechatronics is beneficial.
  • The ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment is essential.
  • A good command of English, both written and spoken, is required.
