Job summary

Basemark is seeking an embedded hardware engineer to own the hardware lifecycle for a single-board computer—from concept to prototype to production—based in our Helsinki office. You will select components, perform schematic capture, manage PDN design, thermal solutions, and high-speed PCB routing for AR/smart helmet use cases.

Work alongside software engineers, iterate rapidly, and bring ideas to life through fast prototyping.

Qualifications

• Proven experience taking an embedded device from concept to production.
• Schematic design and PCB layout on multi-layer boards.
• Experience with SoCs like NXP i.MX and Qualcomm.
• Understanding of high-speed digital design (HDMI/DP, DDR, PCIe).
• USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode and PD negotiation.
• Experience with Altium KiCad or similar EDA tools.
• Experience across power, digital, and RF domains.
• Soldering experience and debugging PCBs.
• Familiarity with cameras/optical systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive the full hardware lifecycle for a single board computer from concept to prototype to production.
• Select components, perform schematic capture, and circuit design, including PDN design and thermal management.
• Design high-speed PCB routing (SI/PI) for AR/smart helmet use cases.
• Iterate rapidly with software engineers and enable fast prototyping.
