Job summary

Distance Technologies Oy is seeking a (Senior) FPGA Engineer to build realtime image-processing hardware at our Helsinki HQ. You’ll own the FPGA logic behind our AR/defense-facing systems, translating system requirements into efficient parallel hardware.

You will work with board designers and embedded software teams, using SystemVerilog or VHDL, and Python or Tcl for automation. Expect a fast-paced startup culture with frontier AI in the loop and significant impact on field-ready products.

Qualifications

• Proficient in HDLs such as SystemVerilog or VHDL for FPGA development.
• Experience with Python or Tcl for test and build automation.
• Knowledge of major vendor toolchains (Lattice, Xilinx, Intel) and related flows.

Responsibilities

• Architecture and coding: translate system specs into parallel FPGA logic.
• Simulation and verification: create testbenches and validate design correctness.
• Timing closure and optimisation: manage clock domains and latency.
• Hardware bring-up and lab work: integrate FPGA on boards and debug with scopes.
