Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer specialized in orchestration, based in Finland. You will join a globally distributed team building backend services that power complex payment workflows and integrations, delivering scalable, reliable systems with clean, maintainable code.

You will own important architectural decisions, drive development initiatives, and emphasize collaboration, testing, and documentation to improve developer experience for partners and merchants.

Qualifications

• Backend engineering fundamental lifecycle knowledge (design, development, testing, deployment).
• Experience designing and implementing backend services for distributed systems.
• Familiarity with developer frameworks, integration tools, and workflows for customer/partner integrations.
• Proficiency in a backend language; Python is advantageous but other backgrounds are welcome.
• Knowledge of modern development practices (TDD/BDD) is beneficial.
• Location eligibility: Poland, Portugal, Hungary, Romania, or South Africa; India not listed.

Responsibilities

• Lead backend development initiatives and key architectural decisions.
• Design, develop, and maintain core backend services for high-performance distributed systems.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability of services.
• Write clean, well-tested code following engineering standards.
• Apply modern practices including TDD and BDD where appropriate.
• Develop and improve frameworks, tools, and workflows for smooth integrations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver user- and business-aligned solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and share knowledge to improve engineering practices.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation.
• Contribute to improving payment workflows and developer experience for merchants and partners.
