Jobgether is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer specialized in orchestration, based in Finland. You will join a globally distributed team building backend services that power complex payment workflows and integrations, delivering scalable, reliable systems with clean, maintainable code.

You will own important architectural decisions, drive development initiatives, and emphasize collaboration, testing, and documentation to improve developer experience for partners and merchants.

Qualifications

• Backend engineering fundamental lifecycle knowledge (design, development, testing, deployment).
• Experience designing and implementing backend services for distributed systems.
• Familiarity with developer frameworks, integration tools, and workflows for customer/partner integrations.
• Proficiency in a backend language; Python is advantageous but other backgrounds are welcome.
• Knowledge of modern development practices (TDD/BDD) is beneficial.

As a Senior Backend Engineer specializing in orchestration, you will design and implement core backend services that power complex, high-performance distributed systems. Accountabilities:

In this role, you will lead backend development initiatives, make sound architectural decisions, and help deliver scalable services that support complex payment workflows and seamless integrations.

• Design, develop, and maintain core backend services for high-performance, complex distributed systems.

• Take ownership of key technical decisions, balancing scalability, reliability, maintainability, and delivery speed.

• Build and optimize backend architecture to support evolving product requirements and business growth.

• Write clean, modern, well-tested code that follows established engineering standards.

• Apply modern software development practices, including test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD), where appropriate.

• Develop and improve frameworks, tools, and workflows that enable customers and third-party developers to integrate services efficiently.

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and product teams to deliver solutions aligned with user and business needs.

• Conduct code reviews, share technical knowledge, and identify opportunities to improve engineering practices.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate has strong backend engineering fundamentals, understands the complete software development lifecycle, and can work independently while collaborating effectively within a remote, product-focused team.

• In-depth understanding of the software development lifecycle, including system design, development, testing, and deployment.

• Experience designing and implementing backend services for distributed systems.

• Knowledge of building developer frameworks, integration tools, and workflows that simplify customer and third-party integrations.

• Proficiency in a backend programming language; experience with Python is advantageous, but candidates from other technical backgrounds are welcome.

• Familiarity with modern development methodologies, including TDD and BDD, is beneficial.

• Understanding of scalable system design, code quality, testing strategies, and maintainable software architecture.

• Knowledge of the payments industry and an interest in optimizing merchant and developer experiences.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
