Job summary

Varsinais-Suomen hyvinvointialue is seeking a Practical Nurse for Fridhem, a 15-bed elderly care unit in the Turku Archipelago. The role focuses on rehabilitative care, basic nursing, medication administration and supporting residents’ daily activities.

You will join a bilingual team and work in a three-shift system, coordinating with relatives and health professionals to maintain high-quality care in a calm, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with elderly care and ability to make independent decisions.
• Flexible, able to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Experience caring for people with memory disorders (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proficiency in Finnish and Swedish (bilingual unit).
• Professional degree in social and health care (practical nurse) or equivalent.
• Valid registration in the JulkiTerhikki and JulkiSuosikki registers.

Fridhem is a 15‑bed unit that provides round‑the‑clock care for the elderly in the Turku Archipelago. It also serves as a base for home care and district nursing in Houtskari and is located near a health centre.

• Support residents’ functional capacity, participation, and well‑being in daily activities.

• Take turns as the responsible nurse during shifts, ensuring smooth organisation, communication, documentation and reporting.
• Work closely with relatives and other parties involved in residents’ care.
• Perform home‑care tasks in the surrounding area.

Qualifications

• Experience working with the elderly and the ability to make independent decisions in daily situations.
• Flexible and able to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Experience caring for people with memory disorders (preferred).
• Current LOVe qualifications or the willingness to complete them.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Proficiency in Finnish and Swedish (the unit is bilingual).
• Professional degree in social and health care (practical nurse) or a previous school‑based qualification in the field.
• Valid registration in the JulkiTerhikki and JulkiSuosikki registers.
