About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Lead Design Engineer to join our growing Power Tools R&D team. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineering leader who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for creating innovative products that solve real-world challenges for consumers and professionals alike.

In this role, you will lead product development activities within New Product Development projects, transforming user needs, product requirements, and technology opportunities into robust, manufacturable solutions. You will play a key role in shaping the next generation of Fiskars battery-powered products, working across the full development journey from concept exploration and prototyping through validation, industrialization, and launch.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in power tools, outdoor power equipment, construction tools, professional-grade equipment or similar products. Deep understanding of professional users and demanding usage environments is considered a significant advantage, helping us create products that perform reliably when it matters most.

Working closely with industrial designers, engineers, product managers, manufacturing engineers, sourcing teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners, you will help ensure great ideas become successful products used around the world.

If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, leading multidisciplinary development efforts and creating products that combine performance, durability, ergonomics and user value, Fiskars Group is the place for you.

This position is based either in Espoo (Helsinki) or Billnäs factory, Finland, and reports to our Senior Manager, R&D. The role is full-time.

  • Support industrialization, production ramp-up, and product launch activities.
  • Collaborate closely with Industrial Design, Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and Product Management teams.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, competitive products, materials, and manufacturing methods relevant to Power Tools and Outdoor Power Equipment.
Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Development, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Extensive experience developing power tools, outdoor power equipment, construction tools, or other demanding electromechanical products.
  • Proven ability to deliver products from early concept development through validation, industrialization, and production launch.
  • Strong foundation in product architecture, technical product development, materials selection, manufacturing technologies, and performance validation.
  • Experience working with global suppliers, OEM/ODM partners, and manufacturing organizations.
  • Knowledge of battery systems, motors, embedded electronics, and integrated hardware solutions.
  • Understanding of DFM, DFA, reliability engineering, verification, validation, and production readiness activities.
  • Sound engineering judgement and a passion for solving complex technical challenges.
  • Hands-on approach to prototyping, testing, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
  • Strong appreciation for user needs, particularly in demanding professional and commercial environments.
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
