Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer, Operations, based in Spain, to lead the design and development of scalable backend infrastructure and production-grade LLM-powered workflows for AI-driven insurance operations.

You will own critical backend initiatives, shape architecture, and drive complex initiatives across engineering, product, and business teams. The role emphasizes technical excellence, ownership, and collaboration in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building and operating backend systems at scale.
• Led technical direction for at least one major project or initiative.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLMs in production.
• Strong proficiency in Python and related ecosystems.
• Experience with AWS, serverless technologies (Lambda, Step Functions), asynchronous workflows.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and PostgreSQL.
• Proven ability to be a trusted technical resource for stakeholders.
• Strong ownership and execution skills to drive projects to completion.
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical decisions to engineers, product teams, and leadership.
• Proactive, experimental mindset with a passion for solving complex problems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of major backend initiatives, including services, data models, pipelines, and evaluation frameworks.
• Define technical direction for large-scale LLM systems balancing reliability, cost, latency, and explainability.
• Drive architectural discussions and high-impact design decisions across the product.
• Deliver product improvements and scope new features and initiatives.
• Manage technical debt and balance rapid delivery with long-term improvements.
• Collaborate with product and business stakeholders on data, resources, and trade-offs.
• Establish and promote best practices across development, testing, deployment, and code reviews.
• Identify opportunities to improve product quality and testing across services and modules.
• Mentor teammates and engage in recruiting and external interactions.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to boost productivity and team execution.
