Jobgether is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer – Protection, based in Spain. You will design and build scalable backend systems for payment dispute management, fraud prevention, and risk automation, taking ownership from architecture to deployment and monitoring.

• Proven experience owning backend systems end to end, from architecture and development through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
• Strong software engineering and system design skills for scalable backend architectures.
• Experience building systems from scratch and taking ownership of ambiguous problems.
• High standards for code quality, testing, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Proactive, delivery-focused mindset with track record of shipping improvements.
• Experience mentoring engineers and establishing engineering best practices.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in complex domains.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in remote environments.
• Comfort working in a growing team with evolving processes.
• Experience in payments, fraud prevention, risk management, or related domain is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain robust backend systems with clear ownership of the lifecycle.
• Develop automation for payment disputes and risk management workflows.
• Integrate with multiple payment service providers and fraud prevention platforms.
• Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and stakeholders to solve merchant challenges.
• Support dashboard frontend development when needed to deliver complete product experiences.
• Establish monitoring, testing, and on-call processes to ensure reliability.
