Job summary

ERNI in Catalonia, Spain seeks a senior software architect to define the software architecture behind a next-generation medical robotics platform. You will apply Modern C++, RTOS, EtherCAT to build reliable, safety-critical systems.

You will mentor engineers, define interfaces and safety mechanisms, lead cybersecurity and regulatory support, and collaborate across teams in a hybrid work model. Fluent Spanish and strong English communication are essential as you help the project meet

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with architecture or technical leadership in embedded or real-time systems.
• Expert knowledge of Modern C++, embedded systems, RTOS-based real-time control with EtherCAT.
• Strong testing background including CI, code coverage, static and dynamic analysis, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Nice to have: experience developing regulated medical device software under IEC 62304, ISO 14971 and ISO 13485.
• Fluent Spanish and strong English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve software architecture across robotic and embedded systems while ensuring medical device standards compliance.
• Define interfaces, safety mechanisms and software partitioning; mentor engineering teams.
• Lead cybersecurity and connectivity architecture; support regulatory documentation and agile delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, safety-critical software.
