Job summary

AgileEngine in Málaga is seeking a Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform with APIs, resilience, and AI-facing integrations.

The role requires 4+ years of production Python experience, strong knowledge of event-driven architecture, REST/OpenAPI, and streaming platforms like Kafka. You will work across distributed systems, contribute to CI/CD, and collaborate with global teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of production Python experience with typed, tested, packaged services and APIs.
• Strong knowledge of event-driven and asynchronous architecture: messaging, durable logs, retries, and backpressure.
• REST API design and OpenAPI experience; familiarity with AsyncAPI contracts.
• Experience with Apache Kafka or equivalent streaming platform.
• GenAI-assisted development and comfortable using AI coding agents.
• Testing discipline (pytest, contract testing), CI/CD pipelines, Linux, Git and containers.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging across distributed systems.
• Clear written and verbal communication to explain architectural trade-offs.
• Willingness to learn new tools and evaluate them critically.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve a Python service handling event taxonomy and a durable replayable event log.
• Design and maintain interfaces using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
• Create correlation layers turning signals into ITSM actions with exactly-once semantics.
• Develop platform resilience mechanisms for degraded vendor platforms.
• Support multiple access patterns: fire-and-forget, submit-and-poll, webhooks, and streams.
• Onboard teams to register event types, handlers, and subscriptions.
• Enable GenAI-facing integration surfaces and safe agent tool-calling interfaces.
• Migrate legacy integrations via deprecation paths without disrupting consumers.
• Own quality end-to-end: code reviews, testing, observability, and production support.
• Engage in squad ceremonies and customer-facing meetings to gather requirements.
• Own a component or project and document significant decisions.
