Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Python Developer to build and scale an event-driven integration platform, including APIs, resilience mechanisms, and GenAI-assisted integrations.

The role focuses on production-grade Python services, async architecture, OpenAPI/AsyncAPI contracts, and a shift toward modern, AI-assisted development within distributed systems. This position offers flexible remote/office options and opportunities to work with Fortune 500 brands.

Qualifications

• Production experience with Python (4+ years) including typed, tested, packaged services and APIs.
• Strong grasp of event-driven and asynchronous architecture: messaging, durable logs, idempotency, retries.
• REST API design and OpenAPI experience; familiarity with AsyncAPI contracts.
• Experience with Apache Kafka or equivalent streaming platform.
• Proactive use of AI coding agents and GenAI tooling in daily workflow.
• Testing discipline (pytest, contract testing), CI/CD pipelines, Linux, Git and containers.
• Excellent communication to explain trade-offs in distributed systems.
• Keen to continuously learn and evaluate new tools before adoption.

Responsibilities

• Build a Python service handling event taxonomy, durable replayable log, and workers for ITSM actions.
• Design and maintain contract-first interfaces using OpenAPI and AsyncAPI.
• Create correlation layer to translate signals into right ITSM actions, executed exactly once.
• Develop resilience mechanisms to maintain usability during upstream platform degradation.
• Support multiple access patterns: fire-and-forget, poll, webhooks, streams, and bulk ingest.
• Develop event type registry and self-service onboarding for teams.
• Build GenAI-facing surfaces for agent skills and tool-calling interfaces.
• Migrate legacy integrations via deprecation paths without disrupting consumers.
• Own quality end-to-end: code reviews, testing, observability, production support.
• Participate in squad ceremonies and customer meetings; document significant decisions.
• Take ownership of components/projects and document architecture decisions.
