For our Detector group, we are seeking a talented individual to:

1. Maximize the quality of detector data;
2. Optimize detector configuration for various experimental techniques at European XFEL;
3. Enhance tools for calibrating and characterizing detectors;
4. Contribute to extending and improving the European XFEL’s detector calibration infrastructure;
5. Actively participate in scientific experiments and provide user support;
6. Liaise with instrument scientists and stakeholders inside and outside European XFEL.

• PhD in Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent;
• Excellent programming skills, ideally in a scientific context, with solid knowledge of Python and its ecosystem (e.g., Numpy, Scipy);
• Good understanding of data science techniques;
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a structured manner within a diverse, multidisciplinary team;
• English as the working language.

• Experience in calibration and characterization of advanced silicon X-ray and/or particle detectors;
• Experience with simulation of detector response to X-rays;
• Experience with X-ray-based experimental techniques;
• Experience with git or similar version control systems.
