UnzerNEXT is Unzer’s graduate program in Berlin that turns graduates into engineers who ship real work. Over 18 months you join a payments team, work with a senior mentor, build with AI by default, and deliver a Signature Project of your own. You graduate ready to grow into a mid-level engineer at Unzer.

You’ll join two team placements across domains to broaden your understanding, and you will apply AI tools in daily workflows while developing technical and professional skills.

Qualifications

• Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, systems thinking).
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and familiarity with modern development practices (Git, testing, CI/CD).
• Ability to effectively use AI tools in software development workflows.
• Experience with software development through academic projects, internships, open source, or personal work.
• Solid written communication skills (PR descriptions, documentation, design explanations).

Responsabilités

• Contribute to production code within engineering teams, delivering meaningful features early.
• Develop skills through the structured UnzerNEXT curriculum and mentoring.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to design, implement, test, and review software.
• Apply AI tools as a default part of the development workflow (spec writing, code generation, verification, review).
• Participate in two team placements to understand Unzer’s systems and business.
• Own and deliver a Signature Project showing end-to-end engineering impact.

ABOUT THE POSITION

UnzerNEXT is Unzer’s graduate program which turns graduates into engineers who ship real work. **What your work will look like:**

• Participate in two team placements across different domains to build a broad understanding of Unzer’s systems and business.
• Own and deliver a “Signature Project” demonstrating end‑to‑end engineering capability and business impact.

What you need to be successful in this role:

• Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, systems thinking).
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and familiarity with modern development practices (e.g., Git, testing, CI/CD).
• Ability to effectively use AI tools in software development workflows.
• Experience with software development through academic projects, internships, open source, or personal work.
• Solid written communication skills (e.g., clear PR descriptions, documentation, and design explanations).

• The interview process includes a 30min intro call with a TA Partner, a 60 min technical interview with the team, and 45 minutes interview with the Engineering Manager. Please note the process might alter depending on our team’s availability.
