The Scope

The Senior Technology Business Partner acts as a strategic bridge between FSC’s Technology organization and its business units, ensuring that digital solutions effectively support FSC’s mission, assurance objectives, and market engagement goals. This role focuses on enabling FSC Assurance, Transparency, and Integrity solutions, driving the digitalization of FSC standards and integrity processes, and shaping future‑state systems that are user‑centric, scalable, efficient, transparent, and fit for purpose.

Main Roles & Responsibilities
Business Partnering & Strategic Alignment
  • Develop and embed best practices for business ownership and cross‑unit collaboration, strengthening business partnering maturity across FSC.
  • Serve as the primary interface between Technology, business units, and market engagement stakeholders to ensure digital initiatives align with FSC’s sustainability and business objectives.
  • Champion AI‑driven, data‑enabled, and automated solutions to support transformation, operational efficiency, and informed decision‑making.
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Enablement
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into scalable digital capabilities.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Support change management and adoption of modern digital tools and automated processes across FSC’s global network.
Technology Evaluation & Innovation
  • Assess the value and impact of analytics, data platforms, AI, workflows, and automation, ensuring alignment with ethical, responsible, and sustainability principles.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and trends in AI, machine learning, and automation relevant to FSC’s mission and operating context.
Product, Process & Digital Standards Development
Product Roadmap & Requirements
  • Apply design thinking and service design methods to capture, challenge, and re‑imagine the needs of diverse FSC user personas.
  • Collaborate closely with Technology Product Owners to define, refine, and prioritize business requirements for FSC Trace and related digital products (e.g. Digital Auditing Solutions, Standards Modernization).
  • Identify opportunities to embed analytics, AI, and automation into workflows, compliance checks, and data analysis.
Process Optimization
  • Analyze and map business processes in collaboration with business units to identify automation and technology‑enabled improvement opportunities.
  • Recommend digital enhancements that accelerate certification and integrity initiatives, reduce manual effort, and improve scalability and efficiency.
Digitalization of Standards & Integrity
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise on FSC standards, certification, and integrity processes to guide their digital transformation.
  • Ensure systems enable intelligent capabilities such as self‑service, automated validation, analytics, and smart reporting.
Your profile

To succeed in this role, you bring strong domain expertise in FSC standards, forestry, supply chains, and regulatory conformance, combined with the ability to translate complex business needs into effective digital solutions.

You bring:

  • A degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Regulatory Affairs, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 10+ years’ experience in forestry operations, audits, certification systems, or building solutions for regulatory or standards conformance (e.g. FSC, ISO).
  • Deep exposure to supply chain operations, including hands‑on experience with sustainable forestry, procurement, logistics, or manufacturing.
  • Proven experience bridging business and technology stakeholders, translating complex requirements into actionable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ownership or contribution to digital product roadmaps.
  • Knowledge of design thinking and service design methodologies.
  • Expertise in mapping “as‑is” and “to‑be” certification and integrity workflows.
  • A high‑level understanding of system integration and data exchange, including the application of modern AI and data capabilities.
  • Strong ability to simplify complexity and communicate standards and supply‑chain concepts to diverse audiences.
  • A bold, assertive, and innovative mindset, with the leadership skills to drive transformation across complex, multi‑unit environments.

The Fine Print
  • Location: Bonn, Germany.
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
  • Duration of Employment: Temporary contract – 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance).
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible.
  • Travel: Sporadic travel is required.
