Founded in May 2020, my client Noselab, based in Munich, Germany, focuses on a new, proprietary and groundbreaking platform for the detection, evaluation and characterization of molecular/protein biomarkers through the analysis of nasal fluid. This unique method is complemented by an innovative, data-driven medical approach that enables comprehensive biomarker profiling, improves the understanding of diseases and supports personalized treatment decisions.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Scientist with a strong background in industrial biomarker research and development.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and execute biomarker discovery, characterization and validation projects, from experimental design through data analysis, interpretation and reporting.
- Design, optimize and apply bioanalytical methods for protein biomarker analysis including immunoassays, targeted and discovery-based proteomics, and other emerging technologies.
- Work with complex biological samples, develop robust sample preparation and pre- analytical workflows, and assess analytical performance, reproducibility and sources of variability.
- Drive the expansion of Noselab's biomarker platform beyond its current focus on proteins, evaluating the potential of complementary approaches such as other omics technologies, extracellular vesicle analysis and nucleic acid-based methods.
- Integrate and interpret data from different analytical platforms to identify promising biomarkers, evaluate their biological relevance, analytical robustness and support their translation into downstream applications.
- Drive internal R&D and collaborative projects with pharmaceutical, biotech and academic partners, ensuring scientific quality, timely execution and actionable deliverables
- Evaluate new technologies, analytical platforms and biomarker candidates to expand Noselab's technological capabilities and biomarker portfolio.
- Communicate scientific results to internal and external stakeholders and contribute to publications, presentations, application notes, grant proposals, patent applications, project outlines and strategic R&D planning.
- Provide scientific guidance to colleagues and contribute to the development of efficient, high-quality workflows.
Key Requirements:
- PhD or equivalent qualification in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry or a related life science discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in biomarker discovery and development within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a track record of independently driving research projects and translating scientific findings into robust analytical or biological evidence.
- Strong expertise in protein biomarkers and bioanalytical methods, including assay development, optimization and validation.
- Experience in proteomics is a major advantage, particularly LC-MS-based proteomics, affinity-based proteomic platforms or the integration of discovery proteomics with targeted biomarker validation.
- Strong experimental design, quantitative data analysis and critical interpretation skills, including the ability to assess analytical performance, biological variability, confounders and the robustness of biomarker findings.
- Experience working with complex biological matrices, such as plasma, serum, CSF, tissue or other biofluids, and an understanding of pre-analytical variables.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing project demands and communicate scientific findings effectively in an interdisciplinary environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Experience with other omics technologies, extracellular vesicles, cfDNA or emerging biomarker modalities is a plus, as is the ability to assess the potential of new technologies and translate them into practical R&D applications.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience/background in the field of neurodegenerative diseases or another field of neuroscience is a strong plus
- Experience in working in regulated environments (e.g. GCLP) and adhering to standards
- Additional experience in nucleic acid analysis, genomics and liquid biopsies
What We Offer:
- Direct impact on how cutting-edge diagnostics accelerate biopharma innovation A dynamic, collaborative and purpose-driven work culture
- A permanent full-time position with competitive salary and long-term career growth opportunities
- Flexible work setup with time on-site in Munich and home-office options
