n8n is seeking a product leader to own the core workflow engine, focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability across cloud and self-hosted environments. You will partner with senior engineers on distributed systems and drive cross-team migrations carefully.
The role values strong technical communication, and the ability to justify trade-offs to both engineers and executives, with a track record of guiding complex platform initiatives.
This role owns the foundations of n8n's platform: the engine that runs workflows, how it scales, and how reliably it behaves in both cloud and customer-run setups. A strong candidate has several years in product, with a good stretch on infrastructure or developer-facing products, and can hold their own with senior engineers on distributed systems. They also bring a record of leading risky cross-team work, such as a migration or breaking change, and can explain trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues.
AI agents and automations all run on the same engine, so the speed, stability and safety of that engine decide how well the AI features work for customers. AI tools can help with drafting specs, analysing usage and exploring options faster. Judgment about trade-offs, earning trust from engineers and enterprise customers, and deciding what foundational work comes first stay human.
The role gives close exposure to what it takes to run AI agent workloads in production, including scaling execution, handling failures and isolating code safely. Because internal teams building AI features depend on the platform, there is a direct view into their needs. To build relevant experience beforehand, try building a few agent workflows in n8n and note where reliability or scale becomes a problem.
