n8n is seeking a role focused on making AI coding agents a safe, everyday part of our software-building process. You will set rules for agent touchpoints, create isolated sandboxes, and wire integrations with Linear, GitHub and CI so agents can propose draft pull requests.
A strong candidate has a solid platform or developer tooling background, hands-on time running agentic coding workflows, and the judgment to protect secrets while earning trust from senior engineers.
This role is about making AI coding agents a safe, everyday part of how n8n builds software. It covers setting rules for what agents may touch, building isolated places for them to run, and connecting them to Linear, GitHub and CI so they can produce draft pull requests. A strong candidate has a solid platform or developer tooling background, hands‑on time running agentic coding workflows, and the judgment to protect secrets and sensitive code while earning trust from senior engineers.
Agents do more of the first‑draft work, such as picking up tickets, running tests and proposing changes, so the job shifts toward shaping the environment they work in: clear repo instructions, good tests and sensible limits. Humans stay responsible for deciding which tasks are safe, judging risky areas like auth and permissions, reviewing the output, and deciding what the measurements actually mean.
Someone in this role would gain rare, first‑hand experience designing an agent safety model, building benchmarks from real past tasks, and tracking how useful agent pull requests are to reviewers. Because n8n builds AI agent and automation tooling itself, the lessons can feed into the product too. To prepare, try running a coding agent in a sandbox on a real TypeScript repo, and write down where it succeeds and where it creates review work.
