Job summary

Hunter Philips Executive Search is partnering with a renewable energy leader to appoint a Senior Grid Connection Manager for onshore wind projects in Germany. Based in Berlin, you will own grid connection topics from planning through development, coordinating with DSOs/TSOs and driving connection concepts across the portfolio.

You will evaluate capacity, feasibility and economics, prepare connection applications and technical documentation, and manage timelines and risks to support project

Qualifications

• 6+ years in grid connection planning and development.
• Strong knowledge of the German grid connection process.
• Experience liaising with DSOs/TSOs.
• Knowledge of medium/high voltage infrastructure (110 kV).
• Fluent German and good English.

The Opportunity

An established and growing renewable energy Independent Power Producer is looking to appoint a Senior Grid Connection Manager, supporting an extensive portfolio of onshore wind projects across Germany.

Your Responsibilities

• Take ownership of grid connection topics throughout planning and development for onshore wind projects across Germany.
• Identify, evaluate and secure suitable grid connection points, considering available capacity, technical feasibility and project economics.
• Prepare and manage grid connection applications, technical documentation and connection requests.
• Act as a key point of contact for distribution and transmission system operators (DSOs/TSOs), managing technical discussions and negotiations.
• Evaluate grid infrastructure requirements, including potential cable routes, substations and connection concepts.
• Assess grid connection risks, costs and timelines to support project feasibility and investment decisions.
• Contribute to the wider grid connection strategy, helping identify opportunities to optimise connection concepts across the project portfolio.

Your Profile

• 6+ years in grid connection planning and development, ideally within German onshore wind.
• Strong understanding of the German grid connection process, including applications, technical requirements and network operator procedures.
• Proven experience identifying grid connection points and managing relationships with DSOs and/or TSOs.
• Good technical knowledge of medium- and high-voltage infrastructure, ideally including 110 kV connections.
• A proactive, independent and solutions-oriented approach, with the confidence to take ownership of technical challenges.
• Fluent German and good English communication skills.
