Job summary

Optimus Search in the Munich area is seeking a Senior Embedded Developer to design and validate advanced state estimation solutions for unmanned and autonomous systems. You will define onboard autonomy architecture, localization, and safety mechanisms, and lead multi-sensor fusion from simulation to hardware-in-the-loop testing.

The role requires a degree in CS/EE/Robotics and at least five years in embedded systems with drone tech (ArduPilot) and SLAM, plus C++, Rust, and Python expertise.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Embedded Systems, with a focus on Drone Technologies (ArduPilot) and Navigation (SLAM).
• Proficient in C++, Rust, and Python; experience in regulated product domains is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate advanced state estimation solutions for unmanned and autonomous systems, ensuring robustness in real-world conditions
• Define and build the onboard autonomy architecture, including localization capabilities, fallback strategies, and safety mechanisms
• Drive multi-sensor fusion efforts and the progression from simulation through hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, taking a central technical role during test campaigns
• Act as a dependable technical reference within the team, supporting the resolution of complex or uncertain engineering challenges

Desired Skills and Experience

• Completed a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or similar
• 5+ years in Embedded Systems, with a focus on Drone Technologies (ArduPilot) and Navigation (SLAM)
• C++, Rust, and Python programming
• Ideally, experience operating within a highly-regulated product domain
