Job summary

Optimus Search is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Aerospace) in the Munich area to drive embedded software across flight systems and verification activities. You will work on satellite integration, HiL tests, and cross-functional reviews with platform and subsystem partners.

The role requires 5+ years in Embedded C with RTOS, plus Rust and Python for testing and analysis, and strong knowledge of ARM Cortex and FPGA platforms. Candidates must be eligible for aerospace projects in Germany.

Qualifications

• Completed a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or similar.
• 5+ years in Embedded C on RTOS, plus Rust and Python for test and verification.
• 3+ years aerospace domain experience (NOT aviation), flight systems preferred.
• Knowledge of ARM Cortex and FPGA platforms.
• Clear of any government, defense, or security-related employment restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to satellite integration activities and design reviews.
• Coordinate payloads and perform acceptance testing with platform and subsystem partners.
• Establish and maintain verification evidence, technical specifications and requirements traceability.
• Develop HiL test environments using representative flight equipment and validate behaviour against software simulations and digital-twin models.
• Implement and troubleshoot software interfaces for optical and radio communication terminals.
• Maintain portable platform software across RTOS environments with timing, memory and power constraints.
• Design, integrate and verify onboard applications and telecommand functionality and support flight software through reviews, assembly, integration, testing, and launch.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to satellite integration activities, including design reviews, payload coordination and acceptance testing with platform and subsystem partners
• Establish and maintain verification evidence, technical specifications and requirements traceability
• Develop HiL test environments using representative flight equipment and validate behaviour against software simulations and digital-twin models
• Implement and troubleshoot software interfaces for optical and radio communication terminals
• Maintain portable platform software across RTOS environments, taking into consideration strict timing, memory and power constraints
• Design, integrate and verify onboard applications and telecommand functionality
• Support the progression of flight software through preliminary and critical design reviews, assembly, integration and testing, and launch and early-orbit operations

Desired Skills and Experience

• Completed a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or similar
• 5+ years in Embedded C programming on RTOS, as well as Rust, and Python programming for test, verification, and analysis
• 3+ years experience operating with the aerospace domain (NOT aviation) – ideally, specifically flight systems
• Knowledge of ARM Cortex and FPGA platforms
