We’re working with a leading energy & tech client on high-impact optimisation and forecasting projects. This is a chance to join a highly skilled team tackling complex challenges around renewable integration, asset optimisation, and large-scale data systems.

The Role

We’re looking for a freelance data scientist / mathematical optimisation specialist who can work independently and deliver production-ready solutions. You’ll be embedded in a project team with direct impact on trading, investment, and operational strategies.

What You’ll Do

• Build and improve mathematical optimisation models (portfolio, storage, trading strategies)
• Enhance forecasting frameworks for short- and mid-term horizons
• Engineer data pipelines and APIs, ensuring robustness and reproducibility
• Transition legacy code into scalable, modern Python solutions
• Work across the full stack: databases, cloud platforms, CI / CD, containerisation
• Deliver clear, business-focused insights and documentation

What We’re Looking For

• Strong background in energy sector / trading / data science
• Expert-level Python skills (NumPy, pandas, Pyomo, scikit-learn, FastAPI, etc.)
• Proven freelance / consulting experience with energy, trading, or logistics clients
• Familiarity with Azure / AWS, SQL / GraphQL, Docker, CI / CD
• Able to challenge assumptions and translate technical insights into business value
• Business-fluent English (German a plus, but not required)
