Role Overview
The Data Analyst will design, implement, and operationalise advanced analytics solutions in support of the NIMSC project. The role requires hands‑on work with data pipelines, visualisation workflows, business intelligence reporting, and enterprise data modelling. Working on‑site within a secure NATO environment, the contractor will provide technical leadership and support to multidisciplinary teams, contributing to effective decision‑making and data‑driven operational processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Analysis
- Design, implement, and maintain complex analytics solutions for data acquisition and preparation.
- Perform complex data quality checks, validation, and remediation.
2. Data Visualisation
- Apply a variety of visualisation techniques to design clear, accurate, and insightful data visuals.
- Operationalise and automate production of data visualisations for timely delivery.
- Select appropriate visualisation methods from available approaches, considering the analytical context.
- Contribute to experimentation and innovation in data visualisation practices.
3. Business Intelligence
- Support business intelligence needs across management, governance, and operational areas.
- Investigate BI requirements in situations involving complexity and ambiguity.
- Apply non‑standard BI tools and techniques to produce insights and facilitate decision‑making.
- Select, acquire, and integrate data for analysis and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to digitise, streamline, and optimise operational data processes and BI capabilities.
4. Data Modelling and Design
- Investigate enterprise data requirements where complexity or ambiguity exists.
- Plan and execute data modelling and design activities using appropriate methodologies.
- Advise and guide stakeholders on proper use of data structures, models, and related components.
5. Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Support
- Provide technical leadership and analytical expertise to project teams and decision‑makers.
- Support multidisciplinary groups—including technical, operational, and project stakeholders.
- Participate in meetings with technical and operational experts; offer guidance and propose solutions.
- Liaise closely with the Chief Technology Office (CTO), engineering teams, project management, and operational entities.
Requirements
Security & Language
- Valid NATO-Secret Personal Security Clearance (must remain valid for contract duration).
- English proficiency: C1 level.
Qualifications
- University degree in a relevant field (nationally recognised/certified) and at least 4 years of post‑related experience,
- OR at least 6 years of extensive and progressive relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrable experience as a Data Analyst, Data Scientist, or in performing similar analytical functions.
- Experience with at least one programming language or tool (e.g., KNIME, Python).
- Experience using data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server).
- Experience working with on‑premise environments and related data workflows.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in NCIAb> or similar defence‑related organisations.
- Knowledge of NATO Communication and Information Systems (CIS) Infrastructure.
- Experience working in an international, mixed civilian–military environment.
