Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking a Project Manager for DED Arc Additive Manufacturing to drive industrialization and the technology roadmap for turbine and generator components. You will lead qualification programs, advance TRL levels, and establish standardized routes while collaborating with labs, certification bodies, and internal teams.

The role requires a strong background in welding engineering, materials science, and interdisciplinary project management, with fluent German and English.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Production Engineering, or equivalent technical field.
  • Professional experience in Additive Manufacturing, preferably DED‑Arc/WAAM or comparable welding processes.
  • Strong understanding of materials behavior, welding metallurgy, automation, and qualification procedures.
  • Very good knowledge in the field of project management and corresponding to several years of experience in interdisciplinary research and development projects.
  • Strong communication skills, proactive leadership style, and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Passion for innovation and technology development.
  • Fluency in German and English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and document material qualification programs according to internal standards, customer requirements, and international norms.
  • Establish standardized qualification routes for parts with varying complexity and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with laboratories, test facilities, certification bodies, and internal quality teams as well as act as a technical leader, promoting knowledge-sharing, modern working methods, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with universities, research institutes, technology suppliers, and collaborative networks.

Job description

A Snapshot of Your DayAs Project Manager for DED Arc Additive Manufacturing Technology Development, you will drive the industrialization and future technological roadmap of wire arc additive manufacturing for the Steam Turbine & Generator (STG) business.Your primary focus will be the qualification of components and materials, combined with the advancement of DED Arc processes, supporting the transformation toward modern, flexible and digitally enabled manufacturing.You will strengthen the existing team by adding expertise in welding technology, materials science, design for additive manufacturing, quality management, automation, and standardization. In addition, you will build strategic research partnerships to accelerate innovation.

What You Bring
