- Manage programs and events for Blue Star Families’ local chapter, aligning program design and execution with funding opportunities
- Support local fundraising by identifying opportunities, developing proposals, stewarding relationships, and contributing to chapter revenue goals
- Identify and develop collaborations with private, public, and philanthropic organizations supporting military families
- Support local advocacy efforts and other chapter initiatives
- Build and steward local partner relationships for program delivery and fundraising
- Educate community leaders using the Annual Military Family Lifestyle Survey
- Connect military families with community resources and partner programs
- Develop a volunteer management program with the Volunteer department
- Execute marketing and communications strategies, including social media management, to grow chapter membership
- Implement a strategic calendar for community events
- Manage project management technologies and tools, including HIVE, Hive Brite, Salesforce, Google Workspace Suite, and Zoom
- Engage volunteers, fellows, and interns in chapter initiatives
- Support the Senior Director of Chapter Relations on key initiatives
- Track program and activity metrics and evaluation
- Implement national policies at the community level
- Foster strategic planning, collaboration, trust, and organizational growth
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience
- Independent self-starter with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to frequently lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to travel locally and transport equipment and supplies for Chapter events and functions up to 60% of the time
- An entrepreneurial spirit eager to engage with potential partners to build community-based solutions
- Initiative to engage with leaders in the community and on the installation(s)
- Volunteer recruitment and management experience
- Business development and fundraising experience
- Experienced in public speaking
- Excellent writing skills
- Ability to facilitate meetings and drive towards decision-making
- Project management experience
- Proficient with technology
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary to carry out key job functions
- Limited out-of-town/overnight travel may be required to attend meetings, trainings, events, etc.
- Knowledge of the military family experience
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems; familiarity with Salesforce a plus
- Familiarity with membership-driven organizations
