King & Moffatt Building Services is seeking an experienced procurement professional to lead strategic sourcing for M&E categories and manage supplier relations across global manufacturers and wholesalers. The role emphasizes real-time market pricing, value engineering, and JIT project procurement to support large-scale construction programs.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in procurement within M&E or construction, a relevant degree, and MCIPS where possible.

• MCIPS status is highly desirable or essential.

• Lead strategic sourcing for M&E categories and build long-term supplier partnerships.
• Review high-value tender enquiries and provide real-time market pricing and availability data to Estimating.
• Negotiate rebate agreements and fixed-price periods to manage commodity volatility.
• Identify and manage low-carbon material procurement aligned with Net Zero and BREEAM.
• Lead pre-qualification reviews of supplier financials, safety records and ethics.
• Coordinate call-off schedules for live projects to achieve Just-In-Time delivery.
• Identify and mitigate single-point-of-failure risks and develop contingency plans.
• Review and propose equal and approved value-engineered alternatives with better lead times.
• Provide spend analytics and supplier performance updates to leadership.
• Chair quarterly supplier review meetings to discuss innovation and upcoming projects.
• Capture post-project supplier performance to refine the Preferred Supplier List.

Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Category Management:Lead the strategic sourcing for specific M&E categories,identifyinganddeveloping long-term partnerships with manufacturers of pipework, cable, and switchgear.
• Tender Support:Review and critique "High-Value" tender enquiries, providing the Estimating team with "Real-Time" market pricing and availability data.
• Contract Negotiation:Manage and coordinate the negotiation of "Rebate Agreements" and fixed-price periods to protect the Group from commodity market volatility (Copper/Steel).
• Sustainable Procurement:Identify, develop, and manage the procurement of low-carbon materials, ensuring alignment with the Group’s "Net Zero" and BREEAM commitments.
• Supplier Auditing:Lead the "Pre-Qualification" (PQQ) process for new vendors, reviewing and critiquing their financial stability, safety records, and ethicallaborpractices.
• Project Buying:Manage and coordinate the "Call-Off" schedules for live projects, ensuring that materials arrive in "Just-In-Time" (JIT) windows to minimize site storage requirements.
• Supply Chain Risk:Identifyand manage potential "Single-Point-of-Failure" risks in the supply chain, developing contingency plans for long-lead specialized equipment.
• Value Engineering:Review and critique mechanical and electrical specifications toidentify"Equal and Approved" alternatives that offer better value or shorter lead times.
• Reporting:Provide regular internal updates to the Operations and Financial Directors regarding "Spend Analytics," inflation trends, and supplier performance.
• Stakeholder Engagement:Arrange and chair quarterly "Supplier Review" meetings to discuss innovation, service levels, and upcoming project pipelines.
• Lessons Learned:Capture and document "Post-Project" supplier performance to refine the Preferred Supplier List for futurework-winning.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience:Minimum7+ years' procurement experience, with at least 3-5 years specifically within the M&E or Construction sectors.
• Education:Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a technical Engineering discipline.
• Professional Status:MCIPS(Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) is highly desirable or essential.
• Technical Knowledge:Strong understanding of M&E components, from LV distribution boards to HVAC plant and specialized sub-contractor trades (BMS,Fire, Security).
• Software Literacy:Proficiency in ERP and E-Procurement software (e.g., COINS, RedSky, or SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel for spend analysis.
• Communication:Exceptional interpersonal skills; a firm but fair negotiator who can build rapport with global manufacturers and local wholesalers.
• Commercial Acumen:Deep understanding of "Total Cost of Ownership" (TCO) beyond theinitialpurchase price, including maintenance, energy, and disposal costs.
