We are working with a leading M&E design and build contractor delivering major construction projects across Europe, with a strong presence within the data centre and mission-critical sectors.
Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Procurement Lead to take responsibility for strategic sourcing, supplier management and project procurement across complex mechanical and electrical projects.
The role will cover everything from early-stage tender support and category strategy through to supplier negotiation, project buying and supply chain risk management.
What you'll be doing
- Leading strategic sourcing across key M&E categories including cable, switchgear, pipework, HVAC plant and specialist subcontract packages
- Developing long-term relationships with manufacturers, distributors and key supply chain partners
- Supporting estimating and tender teams with live market pricing, lead times and product availability
- Negotiating supplier agreements, fixed-price periods, rebates and commercial terms
- Managing procurement schedules and call-offs across live construction projects
- Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks, particularly around long-lead equipment and critical materials
- Reviewing M&E specifications and identifying suitable alternative products and value engineering opportunities
- Working closely with project, commercial, estimating and engineering teams to ensure procurement aligns with programme requirements
- Leading supplier pre-qualification and reviewing financial, safety and compliance information
- Monitoring supplier performance, spend, inflation and wider market trends
- Chairing supplier reviews and developing the preferred supplier network
- Supporting the procurement of sustainable and lower-carbon materials where required
- Producing procurement and spend reports for senior management
What we're looking for
- Ideally 7+ years' procurement experience, including significant experience within M&E, building services or construction
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical products and systems
- Good knowledge of equipment such as LV distribution, switchgear, cable, HVAC plant and specialist M&E packages
- Strong supplier negotiation and commercial management experience
- Experience supporting major construction tenders and live project delivery
- Ability to understand specifications and identify value engineering opportunities
- Strong understanding of supply chain risk, lead times and procurement planning
- Excellent commercial awareness, including Total Cost of Ownership and project cost considerations
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across engineering, commercial and operational teams
- A relevant degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related discipline would be beneficial.
- MCIPS would be highly advantageous, alongside experience using ERP or e-procurement systems such as COINS, RedSky or SAP.
