2026/026. The Cluster invites applications for the postdoctoral position in its project “Making Political Decisions”. The position starts at September 1, 2026 for four years. There is some flexibility regarding the start date.

The University of Konstanz is a dynamic and internationally successful research university with approximately 10,000 students. The campus university’s architecture promotes interdisciplinary cooperation and a sense of community among researchers, lecturers and students. The University of Konstanz has been continuously funded by the German Excellence Strategy since 2006.

The cluster-funded project “Making Political Decisions” uses experimental designs to study how elected representatives make decisions, including how they acquire and process information as well as how they take different segments of society into account. The interdisciplinary project team consists of Prof. Dr. Christian Breunig (political science), Jun.-Prof. Dr. Holly Dykstra (Economics), and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Gaissmaier (Psychology). The successful applicant will be a member of the project team and contributes to its research activities. Developing an independent research agenda within the project is highly encouraged.

Voraussetzungen

• PhD in political science, economics, psychology or related area
• Advanced knowledge of survey methods and experimental designs
• Ability to work constructively and effectively as part of a research team
• Excellent English writing and communication skills
