Description:

As a postdoctoral fellow at one of Europe’s leading university hospitals, the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), you will have the opportunity to independently pursue a research project in the field of ‘Translational Neuroimmunology’ and thus lay the foundation for a successful career in academic medicine.

The Institute of Neurimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis (INIM S) focuses on the immunological dysregulation (Med. 2021 Mar 12;2(3):296-312.e8.), the neurobiological consequences (Cell. 2025 Aug 21;188(17):4567-4585.e32.) and personalized treatment (Med. 2024 Jun 14;5(6):550-558.e2.) of neuroinflammatory diseases such as multiple sclerosis and, in cooperation with the Clinic and Polyclinic for Neurology, on clinical care and research (Mult Scler. 2025 Sep;31(10):1231-1242.). The working language in the laboratories is English.

This position is initially limited to three years as part of a third-party funded project and can also be filled by part-time staff. The position is to be filled immediately.

Your Profile
  • Completed scientific university degree in biology, biomedicine, biochemistry, psychology or comparable and completed doctorate
  • Prerequisite: Knowledge in the field of neurobiology, immunology, neuroimmunology or behavioral medicine incl. rehabilitation; documentation of scientific achievements through publications (ideally including first authorships)
  • Advantageous: ‘Postdoc’ time at a neurobiological or immunological research institution or in the field of behavioral medicine incl. rehabilitation; bioinformatics skills
  • Very good written and spoken English, proficient in MS Office
  • Strong scientific interest in molecular and cell biological questions of medical relevance or in clinical studies
  • Ability to work in a team and to work purposefully on projects
