Jobtailor seeks a Senior HV Electrical Technician to operate, commission, test, and maintain medium- and high-voltage systems across industrial environments. You will conduct insulation and Hi-Pot tests, prepare MV cables, and support commissioning teams during start-ups while ensuring OSHA 70E and NFPA 70E safety standards are followed.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in commissioning and MV experience, completed electrical apprenticeship, and the ability to travel domestically.

Qualifikationen

• 2 to 5+ years of hands-on industrial electrical experience specializing in medium voltage systems
• Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship, trade school certification, or MV training
• Valid OSHA 10/30-Hour and NFPA 70E compliance training
• Ability to read single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring maps
• Must pass drug and alcohol screenings and fit-for-duty exams
• Eligible to work in the US and travel across the US as required
• 10+ years of commissioning / medium voltage experience

Aufgaben

• Perform pre-energization tests including Megger and Hi-Pot testing
• Diagnose cable/termination faults in harsh environments
• De-energize systems and follow safety protocols

Jobbeschreibung

• Operate and maintain medium- and high-voltage systems
• Commission, test, and safely energize new medium- and high-voltage electrical systems
• Conduct DOBLE DGA sampling and HIPOT testing
• Execute maintenance and tests on high-voltage systems
• Install, terminate, splice, and maintain medium-voltage power distribution systems, typically 5kV to 35kV
• Support commissioning and construction teams during electrical and functional testing, start-ups, and troubleshooting
• Test and troubleshoot switchgear, motor contactors, disconnect switches, circuit breakers, panel boards, transformers, surge protection devices, battery banks, UPS systems, power cables, protective relays, and meters
• Prepare and terminate shielded MV power cables using heat-shrink, cold-shrink, taped, or pre-molded/separable connector technologies
• Connect cable ends to transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), ring main units (RMUs), and switchgear
• Strip outer jackets, shields, and insulation layers; manage concentric neutrals; and apply stress-control components
• Perform pre-energization electrical tests, including insulation resistance (Megger) and high-potential (Hi-Pot) testing
• Locate and diagnose cable or termination failures in harsh industrial environments
• De-energize high-voltage systems, apply safety grounds, and follow OSHA, NFPA 70E, and site-specific safety protocols

Requirements

• 2 to 5+ years of hands-on industrial electrical experience specializing in medium voltage systems
• Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship, trade school certification, or manufacturer-specific MV training (e.g., TE Connectivity/Raychem, 3M, or AVO training)
• Valid OSHA 10/30-Hour and NFPA 70E compliance training
• For offshore roles, BOSIET/HUET or equivalent marine safety certifications may be required
• Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, cable schedules, and wiring routing maps
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in tight spaces or heights, pass rigorous fit-for-duty physical exams, and submit to routine drug and alcohol screenings
• Proficiency in MS Office software
• 10+ years of commissioning / medium voltage experience
• Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
• Successfully pass a drug and alcohol test
• First Aid/CPR, OSHA 10, GHS, Defensive Driving, H2S Awareness
• Eligible to work in the US
• Availability to travel across the US as required
