Your mission

The PETER DÖHLE Schiffahrts-KG is a provider of global maritime services with roots in Hamburg and home ports all over the world. We are looking for a Head of Crew Operations (m/f/d). As Head of Crew Operations you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all crew ops activities across the fleet as well as managing a team of approximately 10 colleagues. This strategic role involves managing the deployment, safety and welfare of seafarers while ensuring full compliance with international maritime regulations. You will work closely with internal departments to support vessel performance and contribute to planning and budgeting processes. Maintaining strong communication between shore-based teams and onboard personnel will be key to your success.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead the crew ops team ensuring efficient and compliant crew operations
  • Ensure seamless cooperation and communication regarding crew operations with internal and external manning agencies
  • Oversee crew planning, recruitment and performance management
  • Ensure adherence to international standards including MLC and flag state requirements
  • Collaborate with technical and HSQE departments to support vessel performance
  • Manage crewing budgets and contribute to cost-effective resource planning
  • Maintain strong relationships with crew members and shore staff to promote engagement and retention
Your profile
  • Bachelors degree in maritime studies or equivalent professional experience
  • Proven experience in crew management and ships operations
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multi-cultural teams
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proficiency in crewing software and general office applications
  • In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations and standards
