Zusammenfassung

POLARIS Raumflugzeuge GmbH invites applications for a Flight Safety & System Safety Engineer (m/f/d) to join our ambitious team developing hypersonic space transport solutions. You will lead safety assessments at system and spacecraft levels in line with ARP4754B/ARP4761 and DO-178C, contributing to certification readiness.

The role requires strong analytical skills, experience with FHA/FMEA/FTA, and ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across development domains.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field.
• Experience with ARP4754B, ARP4761, DO-178C and safety assessments.
• Experience FHA, FMEA, FTA, PSSA/SSA.
• Knowledge of system architecture and safety requirements.
• Experience with spacecraft safety standards (ECSS or similar).
• Experience with hypersonic/unmanned aerospace systems.
• Strong analytical and structured work style.
• Ability to communicate safety concepts across disciplines.
• Attention to detail and interaction with certification authorities (EASA/LBA/ESA).

Aufgaben

• Perform and manage system and spacecraft-level safety assessments in accordance with ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178C or other applicable standards (EASA CS, MIL-STDs, etc.).
• Develop and maintain FHA, PSSA/SSA, FMEA/FMECA and Fault Tree Analysis
• Derive and allocate safety requirements to system, hardware and software
• Derive safety analysis roadmap for development of a two-stage hypersonic system
• Support certification and compliance activities with aerospace authorities (EASA, LBA, ESA...)
• Interface with systems engineering, flight control, avionics, structure and hardware/software teams to ensure safety requirements

Your mission

• Perform and manage system and spacecraft-level safety assessments in accordance with ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178C or other applicable standards (EASA CS, MIL-STDs, etc.)
• Develop and maintain functional hazard assessments (FHA), Preliminary and System Safety Assessments (PSSA / SSA), FMEA / FMECA and Fault Tree Analysis
• Derive and allocate safety requirements to system, hardware and software
• Derive safety analysis roadmap for the development of a two-stage hypersonic system
• Support certification and compliance activities in exchange with aerospace authorities (EASA, LBA, ESA...)
• Interface with systems engineering, flight control, avionics, structure and hardware and software teams to ensure compliance with safety requirements

Your profile

• Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related technical field
• Solid experience with safety assessment processes according to ARP4754B, ARP4761, DO-178C and others
• Proven experience in FHA, FMEA, FTA, PSSA / SSA
• Good understanding of system architecture and systems engineering, aircraft safety and safety requirement formulation
• Desirable experience with spacecraft safety standards (ECSS or others)
• Experience with advanced or novel aerospace systems (hypersonic, autonomous, unmanned vehicles)
• Strong analytical and structured workstyle
• Ability to communicate safety concepts to a multidisciplinary, cross-functional team
• High level of attention to detail
• Experience in communication with aircraft / spacecraft certification authorities (EASA...)
