POLARIS Raumflugzeuge GmbH is seeking an aerospace engineer (m/f/d) with a focus on supersonic and hypersonic flight vehicles, Earth-to-orbit spaceplanes, and re-entry concepts. You will perform trajectory optimization, mission analysis, and advanced simulations using 3-DOF/6-DOF tools and Monte Carlo analyses.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's and/or master's in aerospace engineering, mathematics, or related field.
• 1+ year of trajectory design and optimization experience.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, C++, and Python; strong background in optimal control theory.
• Experience in flight testing, aircraft performance and flight dynamics is helpful.
• Experience in multidisciplinary design optimization is a plus.

Depending on the area of responsibility, professional experience and specialist background, the gross annual salary ranges from EUR 60.000,00 to EUR 100.000,00. The exact remuneration will be determined during the application process.

Your mission

POLARIS Raumflugzeuge GmbH is seeking an aerospace engineer (m/f/d) with a focus on designing and developing supersonic and hypersonic flight vehicles, Earth-to-orbit spaceplanes, and space re-entry vehicles. We are looking for domain expertise in calculating flight performance, mission analysis and trajectory optimization.

• Develop mission concepts of operations based on project requirements.
• Conduct engineering approximations for expected mission performance, delta-v budgets, climb and turn rates, propellant mass fractions.
• Design and optimize trajectories using 3-DOF and 6-DOF software codes including mass, aerodynamics, propulsion, and thrust models, working within the system safety constraints.
• Further development/improvement of trajectory simulation/optimization proposal
• Perform Monte-Carlo (probability analysis) to understand off-nominal mission scenarios including but not limited to range safety and expected casualty.

Your profile

• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in aerospace engineering, mathematics, or similar related fields
• At least 1+ year of relevant work or project experience in trajectory design and optimization
• Proficient with MATLAB, C++, and python with strong background in optimal control theory
• Experience with flight testing, aircraft performance and flight dynamics is helpful.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary design optimization is a plus.
