Job Description

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Flight Control Mechanic - 3rd Shift to join our team based in Mobile, AL. This position is responsible for the systems installation of the aircraft for the final assembly line.

Meet the team: The team at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facilities assemble the finest aircraft in the world, along two (soon to be three) production lines for the A220 and A320 Family aircraft. On the shop floor you’ll be surrounded by individuals who are passionate about aviation and skilled in areas like electrical, structure and quality. Your working environment: Nearby on ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your challenges

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare mechanical components at the station/work place/aircraft parking space
  • Installation and manufacture: mark, prepare, assemble, adapt, torque and secure mechanical components and parts
  • Inspect bonding as per order/GTI, drawing and specifications
  • Check system functions
  • Specialized in the following areas:
    • VTP and HTP installation, Hydraulic lines installation
    • Installation in the Belly fairing and Flap installation area
    • Installation concerning Air conditioning and Fuel system
    • MLG & Tank Test
    • Gauging Test
Your boarding pass
  • Required:
    • 2 years minimum experience in Aviation Production or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge: System/Mechanical tasks
  • LEAN: Good knowledge and experience in LEAN practices
  • Flexibility: High degree of flexibility
  • Pressure: Ability to work under high pressure
  • Preferred:
    • Completed vocational training (Mechanics/Systems) preferred
    • 5+ years hands-on experience in Aviation Production
  • Education: High School Diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of training/experience
  • Post-recruitment trainings:
    • Health & Safety
    • General aircraft familiarization
    • Quality trainings

Communication Skills: Must be able to read, write and communicate in English

Physical Requirements
  • Vision: adequate to read material on computer screens; able to identify individuals to initiate greetings and directions
  • Hearing: able to hear safety alerts and warnings
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means
  • Equipment Operation: able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment; working on jigs at the fuselage at a height of 15 feet; hydraulic lifts up to 40 feet
  • Confined Space: able to enter and exit a narrow passage while using a respirator
  • Carrying: able to occasionally lift up to 55 lbs/25 kg
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas
  • Sitting, Standing, Walking: able to sit for extended periods, stand for extended periods, and walk through office and production areas
  • Travel: able to travel overseas and domestically for extended periods
