• Own multiple product squads within the engineering organization
• Independently lead squads and deliver all squad goals
• Manage team members across squads while driving results and retention
• Shepherd architecture, engineering decisions, and development priorities in alignment with product and business goals
• Establish healthy, sustainable, efficient, and high-quality teams
• Partner with Product and cross-functional stakeholders to define squad goals and align engineering priorities
• Develop staffing strategies while balancing company and squad goals with business constraints
• Advance technical decisions that improve delivery quality and efficiency
• Multiply squad impact through culture, process, tooling, and technology
• Own critical relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Establish quality practices across squads and engineering
• Facilitate continuous learning from production errors and incidents
• Improve security, testing, and scaling practices
• Escalate major production issues and establish processes to reduce escalation needs
• Recruit, hire, and manage team members across multiple squads
• Own team-member retention, growth, performance management, feedback, and guidance
• Ensure teams operate with high velocity and clear goals
• Unblock cross-team and cross-functional challenges
• Monitor sprint retrospectives, project progress, and team reflections to improve operations
• Take hands-on ownership of challenging or critical needs when necessary
• Identify improvements for the overall engineering organization
• Support team members through pairing, review, and related activities
• Represent the team and organization internally and externally

Requirements

• Prior experience in technical leadership roles driving business, product, and technical outcomes, such as tech lead, manager, or director
• Hands-on development and design experience with demanding architectures involving scale, security, and product considerations
• Ability to onboard to a variety of tech stacks
• Experience with React, Python, AWS, and MongoDB, or demonstrated ability to onboard effectively to comparable stacks
• Successfully managed and scaled multiple teams
• Experience shepherding engineering organizations through major technical decisions, changes in scale, and maturation of technology platforms powering mission-critical products
• Experience representing an organization and company in internal and external high-stakes conversations
• Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments, especially startups
• Proactive and solutions-oriented
• Ownership mentality with a commitment to delivering exceptional results for customers
• Willingness to answer whether work authorization sponsorship in the United States is required

Demonstrates strong technical leadership with hands-on experience in managing and scaling engineering teams, driving business and product outcomes, and establishing quality practices. Proficient in React, Python, AWS, and MongoDB, with a focus on improving delivery quality and efficiency in fast-paced environments.
