Zusammenfassung

Jobtailor is seeking a senior engineering leader to guide hardware, embedded/edge software, and software teams. You will shape architecture across hardware, edge, and cloud, set standards, and drive reliable, scalable delivery.

You will recruit and mentor managers, partner with Product and Deployment, and ensure field feedback informs product decisions, all while building a culture of ownership and technical excellence.

Qualifikationen

• 10+ years of engineering experience with strong leadership of teams and organizations
• 5+ years of people management including senior engineers/managers
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across hardware, embedded, edge, backend, cloud, or distributed systems
• Experience building and operating products combining hardware with software
• Proven track record scaling teams, processes, and infrastructure
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, databases, cloud infra, and production systems
• Experience establishing engineering standards, processes, testing, and operational excellence
• Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in fast-moving environments
• Strong recruitment, development, and retention track record
• Excellent written and verbal communication, effective with technical and non-technical audiences
• High effectiveness in remote and distributed teams
• English proficiency is required

Aufgaben

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team spanning hardware, embedded/edge software, and software engineering
• Build a high-performing engineering culture centered on ownership, technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Recruit and retain engineering talent as the organization scales
• Develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders
• Define and evolve technical strategy and architecture across hardware, edge, and cloud systems
• Guide architectural decisions and technical tradeoffs across the product lifecycle
• Establish engineering standards and practices while balancing delivery, reliability, scalability, maintainability, and cost
• Identify technical risks and dependencies and drive them to resolution
• Partner with Product and Deployment to translate requirements into engineering plans
• Own engineering execution against product and technology roadmaps
• Create planning and development processes providing visibility into progress, risks, dependencies, and resources
• Remove organizational and technical blockers
• Coordinate hardware and software development across design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
• Incorporate field-deployment feedback into product and engineering decisions
• Ensure reliability, availability, performance, observability, security, and operational resilience of the Integrated Sensor platform
• Establish testing and validation practices across hardware, embedded software, and cloud systems
• Collaborate with Deployment and Operations on installation, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management
• Diagnose and resolve complex production and field issues
• Scale systems from current deployments to a national-level sensing network
• Collaborate with Product, Deployment, Data Science, Data Engineering, and company leadership on strategy, roadmaps, tradeoffs, risks, and priorities

Requirements

• 10+ years of engineering experience, with significant experience leading engineering teams and organizations
• 5+ years of people management experience, including experience managing senior engineers and/or engineering managers
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across two or more of: hardware, embedded systems, edge computing, backend software, cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems
• Experience building and operating products that combine physical hardware with software systems
• Proven experience scaling engineering teams, processes, and technical infrastructure as a company or product grows
• Strong technical understanding of modern software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and production systems
• Experience establishing engineering standards, development processes, testing practices, and operational excellence
• Demonstrated ability to make sound technical and organizational decisions in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
• Strong track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing engineering talent
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
• High effectiveness and communication working in a remote and distributed team
• English proficiency is required
