Job summary

JD Ross Energy is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to lead grid connection and commissioning for large-scale BESS and solar PV projects in Germany.

You will work with grid operators, EPC contractors and suppliers from grid connection through energisation and handover, with frequent travel across Germany. German language fluency (C1+) and a strong electrical engineering background are required for this role.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in commissioning, electrical engineering or plant construction.
• Strong knowledge of MV/LV, protection systems or grid connection processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead grid connection and commissioning activities for utility-scale BESS and PV assets.
• Coordinate with grid operators, energy suppliers, EPC contractors and vendors.
• Review MV, LV and SCADA system designs and documentation.
• Oversee commissioning processes and quality assurance activities.
• Validate technical documentation and as-built records.
• Supervise on-site construction and commissioning activities.
• Ensure successful project delivery and compliance with technical standards.

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer looking to play a key role in Germany's energy transition?

Join a rapidly growing renewable energy specialist delivering some of Germany's most ambitious utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and solar PV projects. With operations across Europe and international markets, this business has established itself as a trusted partner in the development, construction and commissioning of large-scale energy infrastructure projects.

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will take ownership of grid connection and commissioning activities for large-scale BESS and PV projects across Germany, working closely with network operators, EPC contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders from initial grid connection through to successful energisation and handover.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead grid connection and commissioning activities for utility-scale BESS and PV assets
• Coordinate with grid operators, energy suppliers, EPC contractors and vendors
• Review MV, LV and SCADA system designs and documentation
• Oversee commissioning processes and quality assurance activities
• Validate technical documentation and as-built records
• Supervise on-site construction and commissioning activities
• Ensure successful project delivery and compliance with technical standards

What We're Looking For:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or equivalent Technician/Meister qualification
• Previous experience in commissioning, electrical engineering or plant construction
• Strong knowledge of Medium Voltage (MV), Low Voltage (LV), Protection Systems, or Grid Connection Processes
• Experience with BESS, Solar PV, Substations or broader energy infrastructure projects
• Excellent German language skills (C1+) and good English
• Experience coordinating grid operators, suppliers and EPCs
• Willingness to travel throughout Germany (50-100%)
