Job summary

Hunter Philips Executive Search is partnering with an established renewable energy business in Germany to appoint a Team Lead for PV & BESS Engineering. The role combines hands-on technical engineering with team leadership to shape engineering solutions and drive technical processes.

You will oversee DC engineering for utility-scale Solar PV, lead a small team, and support the integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems across projects. Strong leadership is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Strong engineering experience in utility-scale Solar PV projects.
• Solid understanding of PV system design and DC engineering.
• Experience across multiple project phases, from development to construction.

Responsibilities

• Take technical responsibility for DC engineering and design of utility-scale Solar PV projects.
• Lead and support a small engineering team while remaining involved in technical work.
• Oversee early-stage engineering including feasibility, PV layouts, string design, configurations and optimisation.
• Support projects through engineering lifecycle from concept to construction.
• Collaborate with grid connection, AC engineering, project development and construction teams.
• Develop and improve internal engineering standards, workflows and processes.
• Contribute to integration and development of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Team Lead - PV & BESS Engineering (m/f/d)

The Opportunity:

We are partnering with an established renewable energy business in Germany that is looking to appoint a Team Lead for Engineering to support the continued development and delivery of its utility-scale renewable energy projects. This opportunity combines hands-on technical engineering with team leadership, making it particularly attractive to an experienced Senior PV Engineer looking to take the next step in their career. You will play a key role in shaping engineering solutions, improving technical processes and supporting the integration of battery storage into solar developments.

Your Responsibilities:

• Take technical responsibility for the DC engineering and design of utility-scale Solar PV projects.
• Lead and support a small engineering team while remaining actively involved in technical project work.
• Oversee early-stage engineering, including feasibility assessments, PV layouts, string design, system configurations and technical optimisation.
• Support projects throughout the engineering lifecycle, from initial concept and development through detailed design and construction.
• Work closely with grid connection, AC engineering, project development and construction teams.
• Develop and improve internal engineering standards, workflows and technical processes.
• Contribute to the integration and technical development of co-located Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Your Profile:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Strong engineering experience within utility-scale Solar PV projects.
• Solid understanding of PV system design, DC engineering and technical planning.
• Experience across multiple project phases, ideally from early development through construction.
• Previous leadership experience is advantageous but not essential; experienced Senior Engineers ready to step into leadership are encouraged to apply.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
