Job summary

Bechtel Corporation in Santiago is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical packages for copper processing and mining plants. Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering and 10–13 years of relevant experience or 14–17 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with mining process equipment is essential.
• Knowledge of design and calculation of material handling equipment in concentrator plants (desirable).
• Advanced English skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage mechanical packages as a technical leader for documents and activities within the project.
• Develop equipment and mechanical systems design for mining projects (pumps, HVAC, material handling).
• Review calculations and analyses to support technical design decisions.
• Manage material data sheets, specs and procurement docs for mechanical equipment.
• Lead supplier evaluations and tender analyses for mechanical equipment.
• Coordinate with P&ID designers to produce project drawings.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and engineering areas to align mechanical with project goals.
• Prepare conceptual studies, calculation reports, designs and proposals.
• Provide technical assistance to team and client interactions to solve problems.
