Job summary

Bechtel in Santiago, Chile, is seeking a senior Mechanical Civil Engineer to lead and coordinate mechanical packages for copper processing and mining plants. You will develop equipment designs, review analyses, and supervise procurement documentation while collaborating with multiple disciplines and customers.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Civil Engineering and 10–13 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Civil Engineering (or international equivalent) with 10–13 years of relevant experience or 14–17 years of experience.
• Mining process equipment experience is essential.
• Knowledge of material handling equipment design and calculations for water networks and pulps.
• Knowledge of air networks, HVAC and fire protection systems is desirable.
• Ability to apply knowledge to solve complex mechanical problems and guide others.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage mechanical packages as technical leader for the project.
• Develop equipment and mechanical system designs for mining projects, including pumps and material handling.
• Review calculations and analysis to support technical design recommendations.
• Manage material requests, specs, datasheets and procurement documents.
• Lead supplier evaluations and technical tender analyses for mechanical equipment.
• Coordinate with mechanical designers to produce drawings per project standards.
• Coordinate with P&ID designers to produce drawings per project standards.
• Collaborate with other disciplines, customers, suppliers and contractors.
• Review conceptual studies, calculation reports, designs, and proposals.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams and resolve regulatory issues.
• Support management to ensure mechanical requirements are met during execution.
