Job summary

Bechtel Corporation in Chile seeks a Control Systems and Instrumentation Designer for the Mining & Metals team. Based in Santiago, you will report to the CS&I Group Supervisor and work on designing instrumentation and control layouts for demanding mining projects.

Responsibilities include creating location plans, control room layouts, wiring diagrams, telecom drawings, and material requisitions, with proficiency in SmartPlant, AVEVA or CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s in engineering or related field and 2–5 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as MicroStation (preferred) or AutoCAD.
• Experience reading P&IDs and interpreting project drawings.
• Knowledge of SmartPlant/ Aveva engineering design systems desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Know applicable industry standards and quality standards.
• Develop Instrument Location Plans, Area Layouts, and General Arrangements.
• Develop Control Room Layouts and assist with Electrical Substation Layout Drawings.
• Develop Wiring Diagrams, Loop Drawing, and Instrument installation details.
• Develop Cable Block Diagrams, Cable Schedule, Routing & Tray Layout, Termination drawings.
• Develop Telecom Drawings: SCS, Network Topology, Fibre drawings.
• Support the preparation of MTO and Material Requisition for instrumentation.
