An established international provider of analytical laboratory solutions is seeking a Service Technician to support customers across Western Switzerland. This is a highly autonomous field-based role, ideal for a technically minded professional who enjoys working directly with customers, solving complex technical issues, and ensuring laboratory equipment performs to the highest standards.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted technical partner to laboratories, delivering installation, maintenance, repair, and training services while contributing to long-term customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and validate analytical laboratory instruments at customer sites.
- Deliver user training and technical guidance to laboratory personnel.
- Perform preventative maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair activities across a broad portfolio of laboratory equipment.
- Diagnose technical faults and implement effective corrective actions both remotely and on-site.
- Provide technical support and respond to customer service enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Collaborate with commercial teams to support demonstrations, evaluations, and customer projects.
- Identify opportunities for service contracts, upgrades, accessories, and replacement equipment, communicating these opportunities to the sales team.
- Maintain accurate service documentation, maintenance records, and customer reports.
- Work closely with Technical Support, Product Management, and Sales teams to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and support colleagues within the wider service organisation.
Candidate Profile
- Technical qualification in Laboratory Technology, Mechatronics, Electronics, Automation Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience in field service, technical support, maintenance, or customer service for scientific, analytical, or industrial equipment.
- Experience working within laboratory environments and supporting analytical instrumentation is highly desirable.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills with a structured, analytical approach to problem solving.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer-facing communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
- Fluent French, strong German and English skills
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel extensively throughout Western Switzerland.
