Line Up Aviation is seeking a Field Service Engineer - Mechanical to join their Zurich workshop and work from their client sites as needed. You will perform inspections, repairs, and calibration of aircraft tooling, ensuring quality and timely service while liaising with customers and service managers.

The role involves on-site visits, diagnostics, and collaboration with the service team to deliver effective technical support and quotations. European working rights are required for application.

Qualifikationen

  • Technical diploma or degree in mechanics is required.
  • Proven experience in mechanical repair and maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.
  • Strong manual dexterity and practical problem-solving approach.
  • Basic knowledge of welding, machining or other processes is an asset.
  • Experience with customer services, relationships, or business management.

Aufgaben

  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, modifications and preventive maintenance on mechanical and hydraulic aeronautical tooling (lifting equipment, support tools, measuring tools, GSE).
  • Carry out functional tests and load tests to validate repaired equipment.
  • Dismantle, reassemble, adjust and calibrate equipment to meet technical standards.
  • Prepare equipment for shipment and deliver to customers after QC checks.
  • Perform on-site interventions at customer locations as required.
  • Maintain ERP and workshop documentation to track progress.

Our client is a world-renowned specialist in the design, manufacturing, and servicing of aircraft tooling, engine tooling, engine stands, and aviation ground support equipment. Job Title: Field Service Engineer -Mechanical

Location: Zurich, Switzerland Contract Type: Permanent, Fulltime.

As part of its service expansion, our client is seeking a Workshop Technician to work from their workshop in Zurich. This role ensures the delivery of technical expertise to clients while maintaining high standards of quality, cost efficiency, and timely response to technical requests. This position has progression opportunities with incentives, some service work will be undertaken on client’s premises, so a good Customer Service attitude is required.

As a key part of the local service team, you will be assigned daily to carry out the following duties.

Key Duties:
  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance mainly on mechanical and hydraulic aeronautical tooling (lifting equipment, support tools, measuring tools, GSE).
  • Carry out technical expertise, functional tests, and load tests to validate the conformity of repaired equipment.
  • Autonomously establish diagnostic methods and propose repair solutions when standard procedures are not sufficient.
  • Dismantle, reassemble, adjust, and calibrate equipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with technical standards.
  • Conduct quality control checks before shipment and prepare equipment for delivery to customers.
  • Perform on-site interventions at customer locations (airlines, MROs, OEMs) when required.
  • Ensure proper use of ERP and workshop documentation to track work progress and maintain records.
  • Maintain workshop organization: cleanliness, tooling storage, stock management, and compliance with safety rules.
  • Contribute to services quotations in coordination in collaboration with other members of the services team.
  • Coordinate the activities of Service Technicians and Purchasers within your perimeter: plan, organize, and support field operations.
  • Act as the main customer focal point for after-sales services, ensuring clear communication and trustful relationships.
  • Analyze customer needs and establish detailed execution programs, ensuring proper resources, budget, deadlines, and quality.
  • Prepare quotations in line with quality, time and profitability targets, define adapted technical and commercial solutions, and negotiate terms and conditions with customers.
  • Participate in tenders and bids by providing technical data, intervention schedules, and workload evaluations along with the Service Manager.
Principal skills and Qualifications Required
  • Technical diploma or degree in mechanics (automotive, motorcycle, heavy vehicles, agricultural machinery, industrial mechanics, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in mechanical repair and maintenance (hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical systems).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.
  • Manual dexterity, precision, and a practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Basic knowledge of welding, machining, or other special processes is an asset.
  • Experience with customer services, relationships, or business management
