Job summary

BÜCHI Labortechnik AG is seeking a Head ICT Operations (80-100%) to steer global IT ops, including service desk, platforms, and security. You will lead a distributed team across locations, ensuring reliable, secure digital services for the entire company.

You will own multi-cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), drive DevOps-aligned operations, manage vendors and budgets, and partner with the CTO to shape the future IT operating model for a Swiss technology leader.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in IT with leadership of global IT ops or infrastructure.
• Ownership of global service desk and multi-cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
• Experience with product-adjacent operational platforms (SaaS, IoT).
• Strong ITIL-based service management and DevOps orientation.
• Hands-on in identity, endpoint management, networking, security ops.
• Proven vendor and contract management at scale; executive communication.
• Excellent stakeholder management and English language skills.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end global IT operations including service desk, platforms and end-user experience.
• Lead and grow a distributed IT Operations organization with multiple team leads.
• Manage global service model (L1–L3) and drive continuous improvements.
• Oversee critical platforms (Azure, AWS, digital workplace, identity, connectivity).
• Drive security, compliance, vulnerability mgmt and incident response.
• Handle external partners, service providers and licensing incl. FinOps.
• Own IT Operations budget, KPIs and reporting to senior leadership.
• Ensure smooth transition from projects into stable operations.

You take ownership of a global IT operations landscape that is evolving, from traditionally managed services towards a more integrated, in-house and product-oriented operating model. Together with your teams, you ensure that around 800 employees worldwide rely on stable, secure and high-performing digital services, while continuously improving how these services are delivered. At the same time, you actively shape how we run IT operations globally, bringing clarity, structure and measurable impact into our organisation.

• End-to-end responsibility for global IT operations, including Service Desk, platforms, physical infrastructure and end-user experience
• Ensuring stable, secure and high-performing IT services across all locations
• Leading and developing a distributed IT Operations organization, including multiple team leads

• Owning business-critical platforms such as Azure, AWS, digital workplace, identity management and connectivity

What skills do you need to bring?

• 10+ years of experience in IT, including several years leading global IT operations or infrastructure organizations
• Proven ownership of a global service desk and complex, multi-cloud platform landscapes (Azure, AWS)
• Track record of running customer-facing or product-adjacent operational platforms (e.g. SaaS, IoT, connected products)
• Strong service management foundation (e.g. ITIL) with the ability to evolve operations towards modern, DevOps-driven models
• Hands-on experience across core infrastructure domains: identity (Microsoft Entra ID), end-point management, networking/SD-WAN, security operations and observability
• Demonstrated success managing strategic vendors and contracts at scale
• Excellent stakeholder management; able to translate between executive business language and deep technical detail
• Fluent English required; is a strong advantage
