The United Church of Canada invites United Church members interested in learning about global hunger and engaging with MPs in Ottawa to apply for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) Hunger on the Hill event, scheduled for October 19 - 23, 2024. As a member of the CFGB, the United Church hosts this intergenerational event, with a separate young adult program held in the Spring.
Are you concerned about climate change and the global food system? About Canada's role in improving food security worldwide?
This program offers insights into advocacy's role in tackling hunger and climate change. Participants will connect with others who share these concerns and engage with Foodgrains Bank staff specializing in public policy and advocacy. The program includes two virtual sessions (each 90 minutes) and an in-person gathering in Ottawa, focusing on advocacy with elected officials and exploring the links between food systems, climate change, gender equality, and food insecurity. Participants will work in small groups to meet MPs face-to-face, followed by a debrief session.
Cost
The registration fee is $200 for approved applicants, covering all training, accommodations, meals, and transportation in Ottawa. If you are part of The United Church, notify us upon application; if selected, you may be eligible for additional financial support from the General Council Office to cover travel and $100 of your registration fee.
